1) Stimulus generalization means that a response can spread from one specific stimulus to another stimulus resembling the other in some way.
ReplyDelete2)Well if stimulus generalization occurs and the doorbell scares Theodore every time it goes off, then next time the door bell rings or any other noise that sounds like the doorbell goes off Theodore will cry.
3) Usually fear will extinguish itself. As long as Theodore stays away from the doorbell. Or to associate the doorbell with something positive. Like everytime the doorbell rings give him candy, so he knows its not a bad thing. This is called extinction, which is the fear disapearing!

To extinguish his fear i would take him to a place with a bunch of buttons that make sounds and have him press then and encourage a positive reaction to steady his possible negative reaction.

He will also probably cry every time he hears a sound that is similar to a door bell. You can extinguish the fear by reversing the fear of the child. Every time the door bell rings give him a food he likes so he knows it is not a bad thing when the bell rings.

He is going to keep crying every time the doorbell rings or hears a noise that sounds like it. You could extinguish this by ringing the doorbell and giving the child something positive like candy or a toy to show him that the doorbell is something positive instead of whatever negative association he previously had with it.

Little Theodore will cry every time the doorbell rings or anytime he hears a similar sound. In order to extinguish his fear you must associate something pleasant. So when the doorbell rings you could give him candy or a gift of some sort just to help reverse the situation of Lil' Theo crying everytime he hears the doorbell.

In the next couple days he he associatie sounds like the doorbell with being startled so he will be startled. A way to solve this is when the doorbell rings to give the child something good so that he associates it something good.

3.)A way to solve this would be every time the doorbell goes off give him something good like a toy or a sucker or something this way it resembles good. So, the next times the doorbell goes off he will know its for something good. And that its a good thing.
