One day little Albert is extremely startled when he hears the doorbell, and he begins to cry uncontrollably. In the days that follow, stimulus generalization occurs. (*Chapter 7)
Your Assignment:
1.) Define Stimulus Generalization
2.) Describe in detail what might happen during the following days.
3.) How would you extinguish his fear?
Due: Sunday by no later than 11:59p.m.
1) A response spread from one specfic stimulus to other stimulis that resemble the original.
ReplyDelete2)Albert may be startled by loud, sudden noises.
3) Show him whats making the loud noises and maybe try adn make a game out of it, like with the doorbell show him how to push it and let him do it, so he knows what it is.
1.) A responce spread from one specific stumulus to other stimuli that resemble the original.
ReplyDelete2.) he would start off by reacting to loud sounds... As days go one he will get used to the loud sounds and ne cry when they scare him.
3.) Show him what is making the sound when it scares him. Seeing/feeling the object might change his mind about it scaring him. Then he wouldn't scream and cry when that sound happens again.
1.a Stimulas Generalization is a transfer of a response learned to one stimulus to a similar stimulus.
ReplyDelete2.He would react to differnt things like sounds and stuff.
3.Maybe trying different things to show him they arent so scary afterall so he doesnt react like crying.
1. To evoke similar responses after the response has been conditioned and have a reaction.
ReplyDelete2. any time a loud dinging noise is played, little Albert will have the same reaction.
3. I would show him over and over again that it is ok. It might take some time but eventually it will go away.

ReplyDelete2. As days go one he will get used to the loud sounds and ne cry when they scare him but still get startled when a aloud sound happens.
3. I have fears of loud sounds so when im running the chain saw or something I use ear protection and maybe thats what ya could do, is cover his ears and over time he will adjust like i am still in the process.
1) stimulus generalization is when a response resembles one from the past
ReplyDelete2)Things like sound would trigger it.
3) Try to put some calm music or just talk very calmly to him and let him know everything is ok.
1.Stimulus generalization is the tendency of a subject to respond to a stimulus or a group of stimuli similar but not identical to the original CS. For example, a subject may initially make the desired response when exposed to any sound (that is, to a generalized stimulus) rather than making such a response only to a specific sound. Such generalization can occur in both classical and operant conditioning (if a CS is used). However, a subject can be taught to discriminate among sounds and to respond only to a specific sound.

3.show him different things to show him they arent so scary so he doesnt react like crying
1. Stimulas Generalization is a transfer from one stimulus to another.
ReplyDelete2.He would react to loud sounds and quick movements.
3. Show him exactly what is making the loud noise and show how it will not harm him and is ok.
1. Stimulus generalization is a transfer of a response learned to one stimulus to a similar stimulus.
ReplyDelete2. He would become affraid of loud noises such as the door bell.
3. I would take him outside and make him push the doorbell so he can see why it rings. then show him where the sounds come out from.
1.)A responce spread from one specific stimulus to other stimuli that resemble the original.
ReplyDelete2.)Albert might freak out when he hears loud noises.
3.)I would play the loud noises over and over again in lower hertz until Albert was able to listen to the loud noises at there actual potential.
1.It is a transfer of a response learned to one stimulus to a similar stimulus.
ReplyDelete2. Any time that Albert hears a loud sound, he will react in the same way as he did with the doorbell.
3.I would start to introduce the loud sounds in different, fun ways starting with a quieter noise and move up as i go. He will hears the sound so many sounds that it wouldn't even startle him anymore.
1.) Stimulus Generalization is the transfer of a response learned to one stimulus to a similar stimulus.
ReplyDelete2.) Basically, he is conditioned to be afraid of items that resemble the loud noise.
3.) Either start out with soft noises that are harmless and show him that they are harmless and slowly work your way up to louder noises as you keep showing him that they are harmless noises.
1. Stimulus generalization- a response spread from one specific stimulus to other stimuli that resemble the original.
ReplyDelete2.He will keep crying til he gets used to the doorbell. Also, he may take time getting used to lound noises, and they will startle him.
3.I would take it step by step, getting him used to loud noises.
1. Stimulus generalization is the tendency for a conditioned stimulus to evoke similar responses after the response has been conditioned.
ReplyDelete2. Little Albert would be conditioned to be fear loud noises, so he would respond negatively to similar sounds.
3. Stimulus generalization can also be positive, so the baby would have to be conditioned for a positive response.
1. Stimulus generalization is a response spread from one specfic stimulus to other stimulus.
ReplyDelete2. Albert might be scared by loud noises.
3. I would show him what is making the loud noises so then he knows exactly what is making the noise, maybe he won't be as scared if he knows.
