Teen Sext: Phone fad leads to trouble
"Here's an equation area educators — not to mention parents — don't want to see: Sexy pictures + text messaging = sexting. Racy cell phone communications are a disturbing fad among American youths. The technology gives them the freedom to flirt in an extremely explicit way — a way they could regret. The images often don't stop with the recipient, who may forward the pictures to friends or even to pornography Web sites." All of this is according to a recent Omaha World Herald article. 1. i think that if the person that sent the picture finds out that the person they sent it to sends it to all there friends should get sexual harasment charges

Well one kid had to spend the night in a juvinile detention center while others may get the extreme punishment of jail.
ReplyDeleteLike it said earlier they are sending their kids to centers for terrible children. Also if cell phones are against school policy and they find yours, they are allowed to look through your phone and if they find those pictures then they will tell the police. Then you will get caught for child pornography, and then your life is over.
I don't know if they don't know. I just think they don't think that it will happen to them. Also, when you get a text, it's not really your fault if you look at it and there happens to be a naked person in your face....I think jail is a little extreme unless you have proof that those boys or girls are asking underaged kids for pictures of their bodies.
1) Possible consequences could range from extreme humiliation from the photo being spread around to even more major consequences if the parents got a hold of the picture or heard of its explicit details.
ReplyDelete2) The faculty of the schools and parents are placing more restrictions as to how the youth can access such explicit photos or texts. Banning cell phones in schools and more supervision on the parents part.
3) Yes becuase if they get caught they will keep going on. Its jsut like any other major problem the youth see the consequences (in todays world) as a challenge to further push the limits.

3.) Yes, I think teens do know the consequences they just don't think they will get caught. And maybe some don't know how harsh the consequences are and don't think anyone can really do anything about it.
they may face many years in prison and may have to sign to be a sex affender for the rest of their lifes. school are putting cell phone blocks in their schools and encurage the childs parents to check their phones. no i dont because if they did they would not see it happen as much as it does.

Schools and teachers are implementing stricter rules about having cellular devices in school. Parents are starting to take more interest in what goes on with their child's phone or who and what they are texting. Even though twenty percent of teens across the U.S. admit to sexting I don't think they think about the consequences when they do it, it's just like a hormonal surge to check out a naked pic of someone and let's face it when a human's hormones are going crazy his/her brain doesn't really function the way it should, sometimes leading to bad decisions. It's just like an other thing that teenagers or other people do when they break the law, they don't think about the consequences until they get caught or are charged with crimes.

ReplyDelete2) If caught, the kids get into trouble and punishment is used. They are making the consequences known before the child makes the mistake.
3) Depending how niave the teenager is to the world. Most of them would almost have to unless they think the world can't be evil.
It mentions many years in prison, and also tell of the boy who spent a night in jail. But if you can be charged for years in prison than I'm sure many other smaller charges like probation can be given out for sexting.
ReplyDeleteThe schools are making stricter policies on cel phone use. The are also encouraging parents to monitor more closely what their children do with their cell phones and to educate them about sexting.
No, I think that teens know that they shouldn't be sending those pictures but they are unaware of the legal ramifications that their activities involve. I don't that they realize that what they are doing is illegal and they can be charged with things like child pornography.
1) The possibilities is that the person's doing this will be registered as a sex affender by having child pornography and also might be put into juvi atleast for a night.

3) Yes, ofcorse they know the consenquences, but do they really care? No. Why would they, they don't belive they will not get caught and most never will. The only concept that they have is fun. They do it just to do it out of spite of their parents and society.
The consequences are jail time such as in a juvenile detention center. This is a felony and you could face several years in prison. When students use phones in class, it is a violation of school policy so they take the phones and look through them and if there are inappropriate pictures, they report them to authorities. I doubt many teens know about the consequences unless they have seen it on the news or it has happened to someone they know. People do it all the time and probably don’t think about it and that’s where it’s going to get a lot of teens in trouble.

You could also be registered as a sex offender for life which would not be a good thing at all. They can also be charged with child pornography. School can have a no phone policy allowing them to confiscate the phone and look for pictures on it. Parents should also check teens phones regularly to check this behavior. I do not think most teens know the consequences sexting. A lot of people don’t take it serous and think it will never happen to them. I think we need to make parents and teens more aware of this crime.

3) I don't think teens are aware of this consequences. Even I didn't know that you could become a registered sex offender. I think though the laws are to harsh and that the punishment should be left up to the parents and teachers. I understand that its a big deal and overall it's not morally right but its not really hurting anyone and if they willingly send it they have the right. I'm not saying I think sexting is right its just that the consequences maybe a little harsh therefor its the right thing to do to spread the word about the consequences so that people are more aware of it and think twice about it.
