To acquire information, we must control what comes in and what is blocked out from the environment. Material that we retain is first sent through a short-term memory where it is processed and then moved to a permanent storage area where physical changes occur in the nerve cells. (Information located in Chapter 8)

2.) Out of these 3 different influences, which has the strongest effect on you. (Be as specific as possible bringing up examples from your attempts at acquiring information.)

1.) Chemical Influences on Learning, Transfer of Training , and Emotional Factors in Learning.
ReplyDelete2.) Chemical Influences probably affect me the most because what I put into my body can effect my learning. If I have breakfast and drink a cup of orange juice I am more likely to be attentive and focused throughout the morning, it is the same way with lunch for me too.
1.)Learning curves is learning processes can be plotted out visually using graphs. they can be used to study the influence of attention on learning. attention refers to a person's alert focusing on the material to be retained. Chemical influences on learning is there are many chemicals that influence learning, and they fall into two broad categories: stimulants and depressants. Stimulants, such as the caffeine in coffee, tea, and some soft drinks, can actually increase learning. Any depressent drugs will block the firing of brain nerve cells and reduce learning. Emotion factors in learning is how emotional involvement increses learning. Humor in the classroom in moderat5ion increases the level of brain activity. too much humor though will wind up making humor itself the subject matter and will detract from learning.
ReplyDelete2.)I actually don't really use any of those. I use the emotional factors in learning the most thought i'd have to say. I like to be a very serious student but sometimes its good to have a laugh so my head doesn't explode from thinking so much. Also it's better if the teachers are not to srict or to loose. This way i'm not focusing on their attitude but the lesson they are actually teaching.

ReplyDeleteChemical Influences on Learning happens where there are two categories called stimulants and depressants. Stimulants increase the level of brain chemicals that allow for rapid learning. Depressants will block the fireing of brain firing of brain nerve cells and reduce learning.
Emotional Factors in Learning is the final type of influence on acquiring information. Emotions increase learning by increasing the level of brain activity.
The one that I think has the most affect on me is the chemical influence. If I become alert with the help of stimulant and I am more awake it is much easier to learn. When I take a depressant such as cough syrup that is for night time I will feel drowsy and I will probably not remember the things that I try to study.

The emotional factors increase learning. We remember things that were really bad or really good because they excite toe brain chemicals and increase learning.
I think that emotional has the most effect on me. I tend to remember the things that I have an emotional attachment to good bad or indifferent.

Transfer of Training is where the learning of task A will transfer to task B if there are similarities between them.
ReplyDeleteNegative transfer is where the transfer from task A to task B in not helpful. such as driving a automatic car, then learning to drive a manual car.
Influence of attention is where if what we are learning excites us, we are more apt to pay attention and learn the material.
The one that helps me the most is probably the influence of attention, becasue I don't really remember anything that is boring, and actually have trouble learning it in the first place.

Emotional factors can help you learn or remember things by triggering a certain emotion or feeling when something happens.
2.) The influence of attention has the strongest effect on me. If the teacher can't keep my attention by making the subject interesting to me i don't focus and don't learn. If the subject matter is interesting and the teacher makes it interesting to catch my attention i learn more about it.
One influence is the influence of attention, where something is interesting to the person can help them learn. Another influence is the chemical inflence, where stimulants can effect the brains ability to focus. The last kind is emotional factors, where one focuses on what is necessary for survival.
