Of all the words used by professionals, none seems so clear when we hear it but on close examination becomes so vague as does "intelligence." A formal definition might help a little: Intelligence is the ability to understand and adapt to the environment by using a combination of inherited abilities and learning experiences. Psychologists first tried to measure intelligence in a mechanical way in the late 1800's and these tests have evolved from there.

1.) Compare and Contrast the Stanford-Binet and the Wechsler Intelligence Tests. Make sure you delve into the details of what and who each test was designed for. As well as specifics on different parts to each test. Add you own thoughts and opinions at the end.

Stanford-Binet Intelligence test is the original intelligence test developed by Alfred Binet and refined at Standford University. Wechsler Intelligence Tests are tests for adults and children. Both are to find your intelligence.

The Stanford-Binet test is used to test school smarts it was used to see what class you would be in. The Wechsler Intelligence Tests is used to test everyday intelligence this test included 2 parts a verbal part and performance part where as the Stanford- Binet test has 4 parts Direction, Adaptability, Comprehension, and Self Evaluation. I think if you took both test you would have a good idea about where you are in the sense of your IQ.

ReplyDeleteThe Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), developed by Dr. David Wechsler, is an individually administered intelligence test for children between the ages of 6 and 16 inclusive that can be completed without reading or writing. The WISC takes 65–80 minutes to administer and generates an IQ score which represents a child’s general cognitive ability.

The stanford binet test tests people from age 2 to 23 and the wechsler test tests people from age 16 and over.

The binet test is designed for locating children that have problems in school because it deals with words and words are very vital for school work. Wechsler developed a IQ tests for people of all ages for performance, verbal, and both of them combined. I think wechslers is a better test because it deals with speech and performance in the working condition.

ReplyDelete1- The Stanford-Binet was designed for testing mental retardation in an all-male school in France. The Wechsler was designed for all kids between ages 6 and 16. Both test the intelligence of the takers.

The Standford-Binet Test was because of children have problems in school. This helped them know how to learn and process. The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Test tested; Combined total IQ, verbal, and there performance and it was more of a symbolic recogniction.

I like Wechslers Test better because I like how you can se the diffrent intelligences in sertain ages of people and how diffrent they are.
The Stanford-Binet Intelligences is original. Standford University refined the test developed by Alfred Binet. The Weshlers Adult Intelligences provides adults with their Verbal and Performance IQs. Have to be over 16 to take it. I think both would be good to use, considering Standford-Binet was refined by a notable University such as Standford, and Weshlers gives both IQs.
